To install Euro Assistant, simply copy the "MaBaSoft Euro Assistant 1.1" folder on your hard disk.
Â
When you run Euro Assistant for the first time, it displays a dialog box providing you general information about Euro Assistant and reminding you to read the Euro Assistant's liability limitations in the Introduction chapter of this documentation before continuing. If you agree with them, click the "Continue" button.
The "Euro Assistant Setup" dialog box is displayed: Euro Assistant asks you to specify its basic settings.
Â
Language Setup
Â
Euro Assistant is a multilingual application, which runs in the 8 languages of the Economic and Monetary Union: English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish and Finnish. You are therefore asked you to specify the desired language for menus, windows, dialog and alert boxes.
Currency Setup
Â
Euro Assistant is a euro currency conversion calculator. You are therefore asked to choose your national EMU currency or one of the available non-EMU currencies.
The Currencies popup menu lists:
⢠the 11 currencies of the EMU member countries (Belgian Franc BEF, German Mark DEM, Spanish Peseta ESP, French Franc FRF, Irish Punt IEP, Italian Lira ITL, Luxembourgian Franc LUF, Dutch Guilder NLG, Austrian Schilling ATS, Portuguese Escudo PTE, Finnish Mark FIM);
⢠the 4 currencies of the EU member countries not participating to the Monetary Union (Danish Krone DKK, Greek Drachma GRD, Pound Sterling GBP, Swedish Krona SEK);
⢠5 other "important" non-UE currencies (Australian Dollar AUD, Canadian Dollar CAD, Swiss Franc CHF, Japanese Yen JPY, US Dollar USD).
Rounding Setup
Â
Currency conversions generally imply the rounding of the result. Euro Assistant therefore asks you to specify how your currency's rounding should be performed.
Typically you'll want to round your currency to its smallest subdivision (e.g. 1 centime for FRF, 1 Pfennig for DEM, 1 lira for ITL, ... ) or to the smallest available coin. Select the corresponding amount in the Rounding popup menu.
Once you have selected a language, a currency and the corresponding rounding, click "OK" to close the "Euro Assistant Setup" dialog box and to show the Euro Assistant window.
Â
The Euro Assistant window lists two currencies, your currency (e.g. BEF) and the European single currency (EUR).
A display is associated to each currency and your currency's display is focused to show you it is the "active" display. Any digit you'll type will be entered there.
